Hakusan sits at the foot of its namesake mountain — one of Japan's three sacred peaks alongside Fuji and Tateyama — and houses the head shrine of the Shirayamahime Hime Jinja network. The Tedori River cuts a gorge through town, and the Hakusan Geopark interprets the ridge's volcanic history. From here it's roughly 30 km southeast to Kanazawa.
