Mt. Hakusan

One of Japan's three sacred mountains alongside Mt. Fuji and Mt. Tateyama, Hakusan (2,702m) is a dormant volcano revered in Shinto tradition and renowned for its alpine wildflower meadows and pristine hiking. The most popular route starts from Bettodeai trailhead and takes about 5-6 hours to reach the summit, where a mountaintop shrine and panoramic views await. Many hikers stay overnight at the Murodo mountain hut near the peak. The climbing season runs from July through October, with the alpine flowers at their peak in late July and early August.
