The 'Buddhas that descended the mountain' are the draw. These wooden and bronze statues were secretly carried down from Mt. Hakusan in 1874 to save them from destruction; the oldest dates to 1216. Before approaching, purify your hands at the temizuya: left, then right.

Local tips

Purify your hands at the temizuya before approaching the main hall. Left hand first, then right, then pour water into your left hand to rinse your mouth.
