狸小路商店街

4.2Est. 60Sapporo, Hokkaido

Overview

Long-standing covered shopping street stretching for 7 blocks, with around 200 outlets.

Stretching seven full city blocks through the heart of Sapporo, Tanukikoji is one of Hokkaido's oldest covered shopping arcades, with a history dating back to 1873. Around 200 shops line the weatherproof passage, ranging from souvenir stores and drugstores to ramen joints, izakayas, and retro game arcades. The western blocks tend toward local boutiques and restaurants, while the eastern end leans more touristy. It connects easily to the Susukino entertainment district and the underground walkway system, making it a natural part of any Sapporo stroll.
