Sapporo Beer Museum
サッポロビール博物館
Overview
Admission is free to this beer museum in a former factory, with exhibits, tours & paid tastings.
Housed in a handsome red-brick building that once served as the Sapporo Sugar Company factory, this museum traces the pioneering history of Japan's oldest beer brand from its 1877 founding. Free self-guided tours explain the brewing process and Hokkaido's role in Japan's beer industry, while the premium paid tour includes tastings of limited-edition brews unavailable elsewhere. The adjacent Sapporo Beer Garden offers all-you-can-eat Genghis Khan lamb barbecue paired with fresh draft beer in atmospheric brick-vaulted halls.
Local tips
The 500 yen tasting set with 3 beers is the best deal. The paid tour (500 yen) is more interesting than the free walk.
