Overview
World's only UNESCO hot spring, a tiny pool whose water changes color seven times daily.
The world's only UNESCO World Heritage hot spring, a tiny rock-enclosed pool beside a stream in Japan's oldest onsen village. Tsuboyu fits only two bathers at a time, and the mineral-rich water famously changes color up to seven times daily. Kumano Kodo pilgrims have purified themselves here for over 1,800 years before approaching the grand shrines.
