Yamaguchi Prefectural Art Museum

The Yamaguchi Prefectural Art Museum covers the region's visual art history from ukiyo-e woodblock prints through postwar painting and contemporary installation. The collection is weighted toward Yamaguchi-connected artists and movements, including the Nihonga painters who worked in the western Honshu style distinct from Tokyo schools. Special exhibitions rotate in work from national institutions and international loans. The building is in central Yamaguchi near the Rurikoji pagoda, which makes it easy to combine with a walk through the castle town district.
