Workshop Kurogane

Master blacksmith Nobuya Hayashi runs a full-day knife-forging experience in his riverside workshop at the foot of the mountains along the Shimanto River. Participants heat iron red-hot in a charcoal forge, hammer it into shape on an anvil, and leave with a personally engraved kitchen knife. Hayashi speaks basic English and has decades of experience guiding foreign visitors through the traditional Tosa blade-smithing process.
