Overview
Rice planting ceremony where musicians accompany colorfully dressed saotome maidens calling upon deities for blessings.
Sagimai, often called the Heron Dance though it should correctly be Egret Dance, originated at Kyoto's famous Gion Festival and disappeared from there for centuries but here in Tsuwano the dance has been kept alive right up to today. In 1953 the people of Tsuwano took the dance back to Kyoto.
