Overview

An intimate, beautifully preserved riverside village of steep thatched-roof houses.

This incredibly charming village consists of only a few traditional thatched-roof houses nestled along a dramatic river bend. It offers a much quieter and more intimate atmosphere than the larger Shirakawa-go area. Visitors can enjoy traditional crafts and local mountain cuisine in a serene alpine setting.

Local tips

Ride the elevator from the parking lot up to the observation deck for a perfect, comprehensive view of the entire hamlet.
