Southeast Botanical Gardens in Okinawa City has been growing for over 50 years and now holds more than 1,300 plant varieties from Okinawa and tropical regions worldwide. Themed areas include a palm garden, flowering tree garden, herb section, and a water lily pond where water buffalo graze nearby. Tropical birds and small animals in a petting area make it a practical stop for families. Different plants bloom across the seasons, and evening illumination events run periodically. A cafe and restaurant on-site use local ingredients, and the gift shop carries plant-related items alongside Okinawan crafts.
