Senjogahara Marshland
nature
戦場ヶ原
A vast highland marshland with a boardwalk trail through wetland grasses, wildflowers, and mountain views.
Legend says this plateau was a battlefield between the mountain gods of Nantai and Akagi. Today it's a serene wetland at 1,400m elevation, crossed by well-maintained boardwalks that wind through marshy grasslands, birch forests, and alongside crystal streams. The 6km trail from Yudaki Falls to Akanuma takes about 2.5 hours and passes through some of Kanto's most pristine alpine scenery.
Walk from Yudaki Falls toward Akanuma (downhill direction) and start before 8am. Morning mist over the marshland with Mt. Nantai behind is absolutely stunning in autumn.
