Sankaku Market

Sitting just steps from Otaru Station, Sankaku Market is a compact, no-nonsense marketplace where roughly 20 vendors sell the freshest seafood Hokkaido is famous for. The real draw is the kaisen-don (seafood rice bowls), pick your own toppings from gleaming cases of uni, ikura, crab, and salmon. Prices are reasonable compared to the flashier tourist markets nearby. It's best visited in the morning when stock is freshest and the stall owners are at their liveliest.
