The world's longest sightseeing monorail, a 4.6km ride through deep mountain forest with a 590m elevation change.
Deep in the Oku-Iya mountains, this single-person monorail takes you on a 70-minute ride through virgin forest, across ravines, and up a mountainside with 590m of elevation gain. Originally built for forestry access, the converted ride passes through scenery that would otherwise require serious hiking. The isolation is total, just you and the forest.
Local tips
The ride is 70 minutes with no bathrooms. Plan accordingly. Autumn colors in late October are absolutely worth the remote drive.
