Overview

Ornate ryokan with one of the largest outdoor stone baths in the Tohoku region.

Yamanokami Onsen 'Yukaien' is a masterpiece of Japanese temple-style architecture, featuring intricate wood carvings and massive Hiba wood beams. Its public bathing area, Oginoyu, is famous for its sheer scale. The outdoor bath is one of the largest in the region, built with massive natural stones and offering views of the surrounding mountains. The water is a sodium-sulfate spring, exceptionally smooth and often called 'beautifying water.' The facility is luxurious and provides a grand sense of space. While it is a high-end ryokan, they offer generous day-trip hours for those who want to experience the architecture and the baths without staying overnight.
