Overview
Hillside lane with 108 hand-painted stone cats, tiny galleries, and real felines lounging about.
A 200-meter hillside lane in Onomichi stretching from Ushitora Shrine to Tenneji's three-story pagoda. In 1997, artist Sonoyama Shunji hand-painted 108 stone cats with unique expressions, scattering them along the path among tiny galleries, sake bars, and cat-themed cafes. Real stray cats lounge alongside the painted ones on stone walls.
