Overview
Volcanic highland with natural hot springs, fox-legend stones, and artisan dairy farms.
At the foot of active Mount Chausu, Nasu Highland spreads across volcanic terrain dotted with natural hot springs, alpine meadows, and artisan cheese farms. The Sesshoseki (Killing Stone), a rock said to contain the spirit of a nine-tailed fox, sits along a sulfurous fumarole trail. Beyond the legend, the area's dairy farms produce some of Kanto's best fresh milk gelato and baumkuchen, sold at roadside stands.
