Overview
A massive, ancient keyhole-shaped tomb covered in forest and surrounded by moats.
Believed to be the tomb of Emperor Nintoku, this is one of the largest graves in the world by area. Formed like a massive keyhole covered in dense forest, it sits right in the middle of a modern city. Visitors cannot enter, but walking its moat perimeter is awe-inspiring.
Local tips
Since you cannot see the keyhole shape from the ground, visit the observation deck at the nearby Sakai City Hall for a birds-eye view.
