Perched at 1,100 meters in the Chichibu mountains, Mitsumine Shrine is one of Kanto's most atmospheric spiritual sites, dedicated to wolf deities. The triple torii gate, unique to this shrine, marks the entrance to elaborate polychrome buildings set among ancient cryptomeria forest. Morning fog frequently blankets the precinct, adding to its mystical reputation. The bus ride from Seibu-Chichibu station winds through mountain roads for over an hour.
