Midori-no-Komichi & Honda Park
park
緑の小径・本多の森公園
A hidden bamboo-lined stone path connecting Kenrokuen to a Meiji tea collector's museum, skipped by almost everyone.
While thousands funnel through Kenrokuen's main gates, this narrow stone-and-pavement path through Honda Park offers thick bamboo groves, towering cedar trees, and near-total silence. It connects to the Nakamura Memorial Museum, which displays a Meiji-era merchant's private tea ceremony collection in an intimate setting. The path emerges near the Prefectural Art Museum and the red-brick Former Army Headquarters.
Enter from the south side near the Prefectural Art Museum and walk north. You'll emerge at the quieter back entrance to Kenrokuen, avoiding the main gate crowds entirely.
