'Torii in the Sky' overlooking the Amakusa islands.
Located at the summit of Mt. Kuratake (682m). The stone torii gate frames a breathtaking view of the Amakusa archipelago and Yatsushiro Sea. It is a spiritual spot that prays for safety at sea, offering one of the best high-altitude ocean views in Kyushu.
Local tips
Purify your hands at the temizuya before approaching the main hall. Left hand first, then right, then pour water into your left hand to rinse your mouth.
