Koiji Coast

恋路海岸
Northeast Noto Peninsula beach with sunset views and the tragic love story of two legendary lovers who died here.
Koiji Coast runs along the northeast shore of the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa, named after a tragic local love legend. Rock formations sculpted by the Sea of Japan's waves dot the shoreline, and a metal Bell of Love stands at the heart of the beach for couples to ring together while looking toward the sunset. Late afternoon is when the coast is most atmospheric, with low light turning the rocks and sea to amber and deep blue. The coastal road along the Noto Peninsula's outer edge passes fishing villages and dramatic seascapes on either side, making the drive itself one of the more scenic stretches in Japan.
