Kappa-buchi Pool

A small stream pool behind Jokenji Temple where, according to Tono folklore, kappa water spirits still dwell. The shallow, shaded waters flow beneath moss-covered rocks and overhanging trees, creating an atmosphere that makes the old legends feel plausible. A small shrine and cucumber offerings mark the spot where locals still pay respects to the kappa.
