Kabushima Shrine
Overview
Shrine on a hill surrounded by 30,000 black-tailed gulls.
From March to August, this island (now connected to the mainland) becomes the nesting ground for thousands of Umineko (gulls). The shrine at the top is dedicated to the goddess of wealth. Visitors are given umbrellas not for rain, but to protect them from 'lucky' droppings. If you get hit, you can get a certificate from the shrine office to commemorate your good fortune.
