Overview
Island castle originating as rough-weather shelter for sailors, replaced by grander modern reconstruction.
The original castle on Innoshima is believed to have been little more than a shelter from bad rough seas and bad weather, whilst the one located there today is far more grandiose and was constructed in 1983. But whilst the building is contemporary, the artifacts held inside the museum map out a rich and long history.
