Hakuto Shrine
shrine
白兎神社
Setting for the myth of the White Hare of Inaba.
Situated near the coast, this shrine is dedicated to the white hare from Japanese mythology who predicted a marriage between a god and a princess. It is considered the first 'lovers' sanctuary' in Japan. Rabbit statues line the path, and visitors place white stones on them for luck.
Purify your hands at the temizuya before approaching the main hall. Left hand first, then right, then pour water into your left hand to rinse your mouth.
