Ginga Falls

On the eastern edge of Daisetsuzan National Park in Hokkaido's Kamikawa district, a thin white ribbon of water dropping 120 meters down a near-vertical basalt cliff. The falls are at their most dramatic in late September and October, when the birch and maple trees across the surrounding valley turn gold, orange, and red. A viewing platform a short walk from the road gives a clear perspective of the full drop. Ginga Falls sits just across the valley road from Ryusei Falls, and most visitors stop at both on the same trip. Both are accessible from the Sounkyo onsen area.
