Former Navy Underground HQ
museum
旧海軍司令部壕
Hand-dug WWII naval tunnels preserved with visible grenade scars and the commander's final telegram room.
A network of tunnels hand-dug by 4,000 Japanese naval personnel in 1944, preserved as a stark war memorial. The 450-meter underground complex includes the commander's room where Admiral Ota sent his final telegram defending Okinawan civilians before his suicide. Grenade blast marks and bullet holes remain visible on the walls, and the claustrophobic passages convey the desperation of the battle's final days.
