Orderly rainbow bands of flowers and sprawling lavender carpets, one of Hokkaido's most photographed destinations.
Farm Tomita in Nakafurano, Hokkaido, is one of Japan's most photographed flower farms, famous for its vast fields of lavender that bloom in brilliant purple rows from late June through early August. Beyond lavender, the farm cultivates rainbow flower fields where neat bands of marigolds, poppies, salvia, and baby blue eyes create vivid stripes of color against the rolling Hokkaido landscape. The on-site shop sells lavender essential oils, sachets, and soaps, while the cafe is celebrated for its lavender soft-serve ice cream, a must-try that perfectly captures the fragrant sweetness of the fields. Though July is peak season, the farm offers something in every warmer month, from early summer poppies to autumn marigolds, and admission is free year-round.
