Asuwayama Park
足羽山
Overview
Park transforming into one of Fukui's premier cherry blossom viewing spots from early to mid-April.
Asuwayama Park crowns a low hill in central Fukui and is considered one of the prefecture's premier cherry blossom viewing spots, with roughly 3,500 trees lighting up the slopes in early to mid-April. Beyond the blossoms, the park houses a small zoo with sloths, capybaras, and monkeys, plus seasonal displays of French hydrangeas in summer. Walking paths wind through the wooded hillside up to viewpoints overlooking Fukui city and, on clear days, the distant peaks of the Echizen coast. The park is free to enter and easily walkable from central Fukui, making it a natural addition to a city sightseeing day.
