有田陶器市
Massive Golden Week market in the birthplace of Japanese porcelain.
Held from April 29th to May 5th, this is one of Japan's largest ceramic markets. The main street of Arita, spanning 4 kilometers, is lined with over 500 stalls selling Arita-yaki porcelain at discounted prices. The town has been a center for porcelain production since the 17th century. Over a million pottery enthusiasts visit the fair to hunt for bargains and rare pieces. The event includes special exhibitions at local museums and the chance to visit historic kiln sites. The bustling, festive atmosphere in this otherwise quiet mountain town is a unique seasonal experience for those interested in Japanese craft and history.
