Yui Sakura Shrimp Port
restaurant
由比桜えび漁港
Japan's sole sakura-ebi port, serving the fragile pink shrimp raw and fried within hours of the catch.
Yui is the only port in Japan licensed to fish sakura-ebi, the tiny pink shrimp harvested from Suruga Bay twice yearly in spring and autumn. Portside restaurants serve them raw, deep-fried as kakiage tempura, or dried into crispy sheets. The shrimp are so delicate they begin deteriorating within hours of the catch, making Yui the only place to experience them at peak freshness.
