The southernmost town in Kanagawa Prefecture, Yugawara is a hot spring town offering breathtaking views of Sagami Bay. Yugawara is famous for being written about in Man-yo-shu, the oldest collection of Japanese poetry compiled sometime after 759. The lush nature and mild climate of Yugawara continued to inspire some of Japan's most famous authors such as Soseki Natsume and Ryunosuke Akutagawa.
Wash thoroughly at the shower stations before entering the bath. This is non-negotiable etiquette. Bring a small towel but keep it out of the water.
