Yufuin Floral Village

Yufuin sits at the foot of Mt. Yufu in Oita, about 10 kilometers from Beppu, and is one of the most walkable onsen resort towns in Kyushu. From Yufuin Station, the main shopping street runs 1.5 kilometers to Lake Kinrin, lined with cafes, galleries, and small hotels along the way. Most ryokan along the route allow day visitors to use their baths, and morning mist that settles over the lake and valley is one of the town's distinctive atmospheres. Mt. Yufu's twin peaks frame the skyline from many of the outdoor baths. The lake path at the far end of the main street has a shrine at its southern tip worth a quiet stop.
