An open-air folk craft village of about 20 relocated Edo and Meiji-era farmhouses, each housing a working craftsman in a different local Kyushu craft: indigo dyeing, paper making, glass blowing, pottery, sake brewing. Visitors can watch the makers work and purchase pieces directly. The village sits at the foot of Mt Yufu and combines a craft visit with countryside walking; allow at least 90 minutes.
Entry 650 yen. Indigo dyeing workshop runs daily 11:00 and 14:00 by reservation; the 2-hour session produces a take-home tenugui towel.
