Yufuin sits in a basin beneath the twin peaks of Mt. Yufu, a hot spring town with an arts-village atmosphere. Yunotsubo Kaido street connects the station to Lake Kinrin through galleries, cafes, and ryokan. The town draws day-trippers from Beppu but stays quieter after dark.
