One of Japan's largest Yayoi-period archaeological sites, spanning over 40 hectares in Saga Prefecture. Excavations here revealed moats, watchtowers, and burial mounds suggesting a complex society that thrived around 2,000 years ago. Reconstructed wooden structures let you walk through a working-scale version of what the settlement may have looked like, with thatched rooftops and earthen walls. Staff in period clothing demonstrate tools and crafts on weekends. It's an outdoor, full-day site best visited in spring when the grounds are green. Good walking shoes are essential given the scale.
