Overview

Boso's deepest valley with terraced waterfalls and late autumn color lasting into December.

Central Boso's deepest valley winds through layered sedimentary rock formations and dense deciduous forest, with multiple waterfall trails and natural hot-spring ryokan along the gorge. The Awamata Falls cascade over terraced rock shelves, and the Bansho-no-Taki trail passes through a tunnel carved through the cliff face. Autumn foliage arrives late here, often into early December, making it Kanto's last reliable fall-color destination.
