Overview

Yonago Waterfowl park offers birdwatching along wetlands where migratory species rest on their journeys each season.

Established in 1995 after post-war land reclamation projects eliminated wetlands along Lake Nakaumi, this 28-hectare sanctuary now draws over 10,000 birds from more than 100 species each year. The facility combines an artificial reed-bordered pond with a large Nature Center featuring floor-to-ceiling glass windows and around 30 free telescopes. Tundra swans, spoonbills, and shelducks visit in autumn and winter; spot-billed ducks and little grebes breed here in spring and summer. Indoor exhibits, digital microscopes, and specialized staff make this a practical destination for families and birdwatching beginners.
