Pottery village of 20+ studios producing traditional yachimun ceramics with a massive communal kiln.
A community of over 20 ceramic studios producing traditional Okinawan yachimun pottery, established in 1980 when potters relocated from Naha's Tsuboya district to build larger kilns. The village's centerpiece is a massive communal noborigama climbing kiln fired several times yearly. Each studio has a distinct style, from bold fish-patterned plates to elegant shisa lion dogs, all sold directly from the workshops.
