横手市増田まんが美術館
Japan's first manga museum houses 450,000 original artworks and manuscripts from legendary artists in a sake warehouse.
Opened in 1995 as Japan's first manga museum, the Yokote Masuda Manga Museum holds over 400,000 genga (original manga artworks), each carefully scanned and catalogued. The first floor covers the history of manga in Japan and how comics are made. A rotating display of 74 original works by more than 100 artists lines the path to the second floor, which features a manga library with around 25,000 titles. A workshop on the second floor hosts drawing classes. The ground floor also has a cafe with wall sketches contributed by well-known manga artists and a large climate-controlled archive housing the full genga collection.
