Yatai Mamichan

Yatai are portable street food stalls that are set up in the evenings in Fukuoka's city center. Serving up fresh local dishes, beer and local shochu spirits, these stalls are a feature of the nightlife around Hakata, Nagahama, Nakasu, and Watanabe Street. Each food stall has a few seats, where you sit almost elbow-to-elbow with your fellow diners, creating a convivial atmosphere. Amongst the many food options are staples like Fukuoka's famous pork-based Hakata ramen, oden, tempura, and dishes made with mentaiko, spicy cod roe.
