Overview

Modern designer onsen near Narita Airport featuring black mineral water and adult-only policy.

Sophisticated, modern spa facility that feels more like a high-end health club than a traditional bathhouse. It is famous for its dark 'kuroyu' (black water), which is rich in organic plant matter and mineral salts. The architecture is sleek and minimalist, designed by the late Kengo Kuma, featuring floor-to-ceiling glass and geometric stone work. To maintain a quiet and relaxing atmosphere, children under elementary school age are not permitted. It is exceptionally popular with travelers on layovers from Narita Airport. Crucially, the facility is explicitly tattoo-friendly, a rare and welcome policy for such a polished urban establishment.

Local tips

The private rooms with baths are affordable and can be booked for 1–2 hours if you want complete privacy. The restaurant upstairs serves excellent organic Soba.
