Yagaji Island

屋我地島
Low-key island between the mainland and Kouri, connected by bridge, mangroves, fishing spots, and quiet beaches.
Yagaji Island sits off the coast of Nago in northern Okinawa, connected to the mainland by the Yagaji Bridge. The island is small enough to cover in a few hours, with a fishing port on the western side, a quiet beach on the east, and a walking path that loops around the forested interior hill. Sea kayaking and fishing from the shore are the main draw for active visitors, and the calm waters between Yagaji and the nearby Kouri Island are good for paddling. The area is noticeably quieter than the resort zones further south, and the beaches here see only a fraction of the traffic that the more famous beaches in Onna Village receive.
