Overview
Volcanic rock pillars and an eight-arched stone bridge in one of Japan's top three autumn-foliage gorges.
A nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty where volcanic rock pillars rise at near-vertical angles, connected by one of Japan's 100 Famous Bridges, the Yabakei Bridge with its eight continuous stone arches. The gorge is counted among Japan's three great autumn-foliage destinations, but each season brings a different palette: cherry blossoms in spring, deep greens in summer, and snow-dusted crags in winter.
