Okinoerabu Island is the second most southerly of the Amami Islands and is located between Tokunoshima and Yoron Island.
Wanjo Beach on Okinoerabu Island is a stretch of white coral sand at the edge of the East China Sea, located on one of the Amami Islands between Tokunoshima and Yoron. The calm, shallow water is clear enough for snorkeling among colorful coral and tropical fish, and the beach stays uncrowded even in summer given the island's small visitor numbers. Okinoerabu itself is known for dramatic limestone cave systems, sugarcane fields, and a warm local culture that blends Amami and Okinawan traditions. Getting here requires a flight or ferry from Kagoshima or Okinawa, but the remoteness is part of the appeal.
