1932 corner clock tower at the Ginza 4-chome crossing; the de facto central landmark of Ginza.
A 1932 Neo-Renaissance corner building with the iconic Wako clock tower, marking the Ginza 4-chome crossing where Chuo-dori meets Harumi-dori. The clock tower has chimed on the hour since 1932 (the chime was paused only during WWII and the 1964 Olympics). The building survived the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake and WWII bombing, making it one of the few pre-war Ginza facades intact today. The flagship Wako shop inside specializes in Seiko's heritage jewelry and Grand Seiko watches.
Local tips
Free to view from the street; the corner is Ginza's most-photographed exterior. Step inside the ground floor to see the lobby's preserved 1932 marble.
