Wakabayu Onsen

Tucked into Otawara's rural outskirts, this family-run onsen complex draws mineral-rich water from 1,500 meters underground. The outdoor rotenburo overlooks rice paddies with Mount Nasu in the distance, and the slightly alkaline water leaves skin noticeably smooth. Unlike the resort towns, this is where local farmers soak after work, a 500-yen entry and vending-machine milk complete the unhurried experience.
