若狭和田ビーチ
Overview
Fukui Prefecture is home to amazing beaches, but none compare to Wakasa Wada's pellucid waters and clean white sands.
Wakasa Wada Beach in Fukui Prefecture holds Blue Flag international certification, one of the first beaches in Asia to earn the distinction, for its clear water, clean sand, and well-maintained facilities. The shallow, gentle surf makes it safe for young children, while the transparency of the water draws snorkelers and paddleboarders through July and August. A pine grove at the rear provides natural shade on hot days, and lifeguards are posted during peak season. Sea kayaking, fishing, and boat tours around Wakasa Bay are available nearby. The beach sits about 90 minutes from Kyoto, making it a well-worn summer escape for Kansai residents. Restaurants along the shore serve fresh young yellowtail and squid from local waters.
