Overview
Japan's oldest surviving Shinto shrine with an incredibly serene and ancient atmosphere.
Believed to be the oldest standing Shinto shrine in Japan, nestled in the woods across the river from Byodo-in. The architecture is distinctly ancient and unpretentious. The peaceful environment provides a calming retreat in the Uji area.
